Sango-Ota(Ogun) – A 40-year-old man, Samuel Misshoun, on Friday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly collecting a motorcycle under false pretence.
Misshoun, who lives at No. 28, Faoye Str., Iyana-Iyesi, Ota in Ogun, is charged with obtaining a motorcyle under false pretence.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 26 at 7.45 a. m. at No. 21, Fadima Str., Ota, Ogun.
Gbesi said the accused collected a motorcycle under pretence from one Jeremiah Adeku, for commercial purposes.
He said the accused made N189,000 and instead of remitting the proceeds to the complainant, he converted it to his personal use.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, swear to an affidavit of means and submit four recent passport photographs to the court.
Banwo also said that the sorties must show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case till Oct. 6, for hearing.
