Ibadan – A 42-year-old architect, Sanni Idowu, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ibadan High Court for allegedly raping his daughter.
Mr Tajudeen AbdulGaniyu, the prosecution counsel, informed the court that the defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of rape.
AbdulGaniyu said that the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of his daughter without her consent.
He alleged that the defendant had carnal knowledge of his daughter on several occasions and threatened to cut-off her head if she tells anybody.
AbdulGaniyu said that medical tests conducted showed that there was penetration.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said that the incident happened on Oct. 2, 2013 at Amuloko area of Ibadan.
The offence convened Section 357 and punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Voll. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Akorede Bakare, informed the court that he had filed a bail application on behalf of his client.
Bakare said that the prosecution just served him the counter affidavit in respect of the bail application, and urged the court to grant him an adjournment.
Justice Munta Abimbola adjourned the case till Dec.15, for hearing of the bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded at Agodi Prison, Ibadan. (NAN)
