Abuja – A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced 27-year-old marketer, Sambo Jibril, to four months imprisonment for theft.
Jibril, who resides at Wuse 2, Aminu Kano Crescent, Abuja, was convicted on a count charge of theft.
The convict, who pleaded guilty, begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict N10,000 option of fine.
He said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Ifeoma Ukagha, had told the court that one Hope Amaike, a supervisor at Bakangizo Super Market, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarimpa Police Station, on May 9.
He said that the accused went to the super market with the pretext of buying soft drinks, but instead stole one Philips shaver smoothie, valued at N32, 000.
Ukagha told the court that the super market security guard apprehended the accused as he was about to leave the store.
He said that he was in possession of the stolen item, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
