Kaduna – A 36-year old man, Raymond Gayus, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing property valued at N538,000.
Gayus, who resides at Romi New Extension, Kaduna, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary.
The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that Gayus committed the offences on April 6, at Wasa Yari Romi area of Kaduna.
Leo alleged that Gayus conspired with two others now at large to steal jewellery, shirts and a generator set belonging to the complainant, Mr Friday Daniel.
”The defendant and his accomplices forcefully gained access into Daniel’s apartment while he had gone to work,” he said.
He said that Gayus was caught when a neighbour raised an alarm and attracted the attention of other people in the compound.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections, 234, 270 and 308 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until June 5 for hearing.(NAN)
