In a tragic incident at Kajola village, Apomu, in Osun State, a dispute over the proceeds of palm oil from a family farm resulted in the alleged killing of Aminat Odejoju, 63, by her son, Lukman Odejoju.
Reportedly, the disagreement arose when their laborer brought in the proceeds, and the mother insisted on her right to claim them, while Lukman disagreed.
According to sources in the community, the confrontation escalated, culminating in Lukman fatally injuring his mother.
Subsequently, both the deceased’s body and the suspect were taken to the Apomu police station, as confirmed by the Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke.
The Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that the suspect confessed to pushing his mother in a fit of rage, claiming his actions were not intentional. He purportedly expressed confusion over his own actions, attributing them to an inexplicable force that led to his mother’s tragic demise.
