Middle-aged man in court for alleged defilement of minor

Abuja  –  A middle-aged man, Uchenna Oti, appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday for alleged defilement of a minor.

Oti of NEPA junction, Apo FCT, pleaded not guilty to the allegation of rape contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code.

The Prosecutor, Urom Inah, told the court that Nuhu Abdullahi of Damagaza village, Abuja, reported the matter on Feb. 20.

Inah said that the defendant used force on the minor and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, said that he recognised the name and face of the Oti as one who had been arraigned twice for alleged rape.

Kagarko turned down the bail application, remanded the defendant in prison custody and adjourned the case till May 23. (NAN)
