Boxing legend Mike Tyson experienced a medical scare on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, as reported by his representatives to the New York Post. The 57-year-old former champion became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up approximately 30 minutes before landing.
Tyson’s team assured fans that he is “doing great” following the incident. “He is appreciative of the medical staff that were there to help him,” his representatives stated in an email to The Post.
Concerns about Tyson’s physical condition have surfaced as he prepares for a potential return to the ring. Tyson, who will turn 58 on June 30, has candidly admitted to feeling significant soreness during training. At a recent press conference, he remarked that his body feels like “s— right now.”
Despite these challenges, Tyson remains confident about his upcoming fight. Addressing his opponent, Anderson Silva, he said, “He’s going to knock me out? Anderson Silva. He couldn’t even knock out the little guys, how’s he going to knock me out? He never knocked out a real man, come on. He didn’t knock out Tommy Fury. I’m going to f— Jake up.”
Meanwhile, his younger opponent, Jake Paul, 27, has been exuding confidence during the press tour. “I’m going to show the world that I can outbox Mike Tyson, prove everyone wrong, and show that I will be the one doing the killing,” Paul declared at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Tyson’s last appearance in the boxing ring was an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020, which ended in a draw. His last sanctioned fight took place in June 2005.
