Abuja – Mr Adebayo Shittu, the Minister of Communications has expressed delight at the re-election of Mr Kolawole Aduloju as Assistant Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU).
This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the minister on Media, Mr Victor Oluwadamilare and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement quoted the minister as saying that the re-election, which took place at the just concluded 9th Plenipotentiary Conference of PAPU held in Yaounde, Cameroun had further put a spot light on the Nigerian Post Service (NIPOST).
The minister had led the Nigerian delegation to the conference attended by 44 countries and major stakeholders in the postal industry.
Shittu viewed Aduloju’s re-election for another four years as a recognition of Nigeria’s immense contributions to the development of PAPU.
He expressed similar disposition to the Camerounian’s flag- bearer and incumbent Secretary-General, Mr Younouss Djibrine for his re-election.
Speaking about Nigeria’s commitment to the union and postal services in the region, Shittu said, “Nigeria pioneered the introduction of several reforms that have galvanized the union into what many of us are proud of today.
“As a member of the union’s Technical and Administrative Committee over the years, her inputs have shaped the development of the African Regional Plans.
“This has been the blueprint for Africa in her quest to implement any of the Universal Postal Strategies over the years,” the minister said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Aduloju joined the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in July 1980.
Aduloju rose from the management level to the directorate cadre to becoming the Head of International Operations Department of NIPOST before his election into PAPU in 2012. (NAN)
