Minister Mohammed Idris, also an esteemed Fellow of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), extends his warm congratulations to the recently elected Executive Council following the 35th APRA Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Recognizing the election’s significance for advancing public relations across Africa, Minister Idris emphasizes the pivotal role of the newly elected council in realizing APRA’s long-term vision. Led by President Arik Karani from Kenya, Vice President Dr. Michele Mekeme from Cameroon, and Secretary-General Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan from Nigeria, the council’s collective expertise promises to shape the future of the profession on the continent.
Idris urges the council to build on APRA’s ongoing reforms, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and collaboration to strengthen the public relations profession continent-wide. He calls for closer collaboration with the African Union Commission and the Council of Ministers to ensure public relations remains central to policy formulation and implementation.
The Minister extends his congratulations to Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, Head of Media Relations at the Nigerian Communications Commission, on his appointment as APRA’s Secretary-General. Highlighting Ibietan’s distinguished career as a journalist, public relations expert, and author, Idris expresses confidence in his ability to contribute positively to APRA’s mission.
