Abuja – Mrs Aisha Abubakar, the Minister of State, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has advised NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), an NGO, to key into the country’s industrial revolution plan to achieve its goals.
Abubakar gave the advice in Abuja on Tuesday when members of the Network paid her a courtesy visit.
She said that the plan was a comprehensive industrialisation programme because it was based on areas where Nigeria had competitive and comparative advantage such as agriculture and agro-products, among others.
The minister added that the plan would address major constraints in the country’s industrialisation process, improve the nation’s investment climate and promote the patronage of made in Nigeria products.
She urged the Network to seek for better understanding of investment issues from the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).

She also urged the Network to key into the online “Growth and Employment Project’’ aimed at stimulating job creation through the growth of specific, high potential and non-oil sector.
Abubakar said that the online platform would be the main channel through which the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) assistance would be made available to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Network, Mrs Ekaette Umoh, had called on the ministry to intervene in areas of foreign exchange, multiple taxation, land for incubation centre for the network and registration of trademark.
Umoh said Abuja should be made investors-friendly to attract those willing to invest in order to achieve the present administration’s diversification process.
She appealed to the ministry to involve the Network in its women entrepreneurs and overseas exhibitions.
She also called for the ministry’s assistance toward building the capacity of women entrepreneurs through relevant training in business start-ups and growth, access to finance and markets and best practices in running cooperatives. (NAN)
