Lagos – Mr Jagdeep Kapoor, Head of Chancery, High Commission of India in Lagos, on Friday announced his government’s plan to absorb more Nigerians into its technical education in India.
Kapoor told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)in Lagos that there was the possibility for more Nigerians to be nominated to visit India for the training programme in April, this year.
The Indian official said that the India Technical and Economic Cooperation Office in Abuja, had over the years sent many nominated Nigerians from across the country for the training in India.
“Every year, the Federal Government of Nigeria is allowed to nominate people for technical education in India.
“We have an office in Abuja, the India Technical and Economic Cooperation Office, that coordinates the programme and sends nominated Nigerians to India, where they are usually provided with
technical education.
“And all expenses, including visas, flight tickets, accommodation and feeding are usually paid for by the Indian Government.
“By April this year, we look forward to seeing many more Nigerians benefiting from this technical education in India,’’ he said.
Kapoor expressed his government’s commitment to sustaining and using the training programme to empower more young Nigerians in the future.
He enjoined interested Nigerians to always avail themselves of such opportunities, adding that their participation in the technical education in India, would expose them to different skills.
