Nasarawa State – A member of Nassarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Murtala Sodangi, has called for 24-hour surveillance on Nasarawa/Keffi Road incessant robbery by gunmen on the route.
“Sodangi, who represents Nasarawa Central, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the step was necessary to curtail the activities of criminals on that axis.
The Chairman, House Committee on Urban Development said that securing the road was crucial to lots of business activities because it was a major link to other parts of the country.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Besides, many students of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, ply the road everyday and it is our duty to secure them,” he said.
While commending the police and other security agents over efforts towards curtailing crime in the society, he appealed to them police increase such surveillance along that road.
“Of late, armed robbery attacks have increased on the road; I believe that sustained security surveillance will check that,” he said.
According to him, his constituents are usually gripped by fear once it is dusk.
“Beefing up security in the area will not only curtail the activities of armed robbers, but will also help in checking the influx of criminal elements who might want to disguise as good people to cheat innocent people.’’ (NAN)
