Lafia – Alhaji Tanko Tunga, Majority Leader at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has advised his constituents to initiate self-help projects so as to speed up development processes in the area.
Tunga, an APC lawmaker, who represents Awe North constituency, gave the advice on Thursday in Lafia, when the leadership of the Awe Development and Unity Forum paid him a courtesy visit.
He expressed government’s readiness to support such initiatives so as to meet the people’s peculiar needs.
He also urged the people to remain united and work toward promoting peaceful co-existence, and cautioned against discrimination along ethnic, religious and political lines.
Tunga said that Nasarawa would attract more investors if it was peaceful, noting that such investments would enhance economic growth and improve living standards.
“It is necessary to promote peace because it is priceless and not negotiable; all hands must be on deck toward promoting and sustaining it,” he said.
He promised to work with the constituents to promote peace which was necessary to develop Awe, and called for support from all.
Earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi Mustapha-Aliyu, the chairman of the forum, had said that the visit was to show solidarity with the lawmaker and offer suggestions toward lifting the living standards of the people.
Mustapha-Aliyu, a former information commissioner in the state, promised to support the lawmaker’s efforts targeted at youth development, peace, unity and prosperity.
