Lafia – Suleiman Dogo, Head Coach of Nasarawa United FC says the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side would officially resume training for the 2015/2016 football season in two weeks.
The coach disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during an interview on Wednesday in Lafia.
Dogo said that the immediate resumption of training was to enable the players prepare adequately for the upcoming 2015/2016 domestic league season.
According to him, the team cannot afford not to be able to achieve its plans for the next season.
“We have started planning for the next season and the continental assignment. We have decided to go for a two-week break and then come back and start our preparations,’’ he said.
Dogo added that the team had made efforts for friendly matches with other teams in the country, to test and evaluate its mental and physical preparedness.
He, however, appealed for support from the state government, the team’s management and its fans, to enable the team to be able to overcome some of its obstacles.
The coach also appealed to the team’s fans over its poor performances in the NPFL 2014/2015 season.
“Football is an unpredictable game, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. Nevertheless, we should still remain one family.
“I am appealing to those fans who were not happy with some of our performances in mid season and who thought we won’t get this far, to please renew their loyalty and affection for the club and return to motivate the players. This is the time Nasarawa United needs them most,’’ he said.
Isaac Danladi, Chairman of Nasarawa United, commended the state governor, Umaru Al-Makura, for promptly settling the allowances of the players and the technical crew.
According to Danladi, this singular move is critical to the team’s success.

“It was the attitude of the state government that really motivated the players to get this far.
“ The state governor, who is a sports lover and is conscious of what to do to encourage our boys, promptly settled their allowances.
“He paid in time and supported them in several other ways,’’ he added. (NAN)
