Abuja, – The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Wednesday said it would create wealth in Nigeria through its Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Programme.
The Chief Information Officer (Media and Protocol), NASENI, Mr Segun Ayeoyenikan, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the purpose of AMT is to generate wealth for the country.
“This mechanism for wealth generation can deliver the increased industrial productivity to reduce importation of goods, equipment, raw materials and services that translate to increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” he said.
He said AMT could help reduce the foreign exchange capital flight.
According to him, the AMT programme will enable the generation of value added employment, boost performance of Entrepreneurs and the Manufactures Association of Nigeria.
Ayeoyenikan affirmed the readiness of the agency to provide facilities at the NASENI Headquarters and its Institutes for training in various aspect of AMT.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The main objective of AMT programmes is to provide local training for the development of skills to address the shortage of qualified and competent technologists, technicians and engineers.
“We will focus especially on design and manufacture of process equipment,’’ he said.
The officer said that the agency would provide high quality post-graduate training that would contribute to the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) in the manufacture sector of economy.
“For Nigeria to be ranked among the 20 richest countries by 2020, there is no alternative to the adoption and application of AMT for economic growth,’’ Ayeoyenikan said. (NAN)
