Abuja – The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) on Saturday in Abuja organised a one-day media orientation seminar for sports writers in the FCT.
Emeka Onyeama, President of the Federation, said the essence of the seminar was to acquaint journalists with the rudiments of the sport.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Onyeama was represented by Kayode Adeniyi, a member of the board and the course co-ordinator.
“By the time this seminar is over, you (journalists) would have learnt the terminologies, techniques that will help you in reporting the game.
“Sometimes when cricket is discussed on the news, people do not understand it and the journalist as well may not have understood it.
“So, we saw it necessary to organise this seminar, which is also a way of making the game popular because we cannot do without the media,’’ Onyeama said.
NAN reports that the participants, who were more than 30 journalists and were from several media houses, were lectured on both the theoretical and practical aspects of the sport.(NAN)
