Abuja – Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Nsima Ekere advises the people of Niger Delta region to give President Muhammadu Buhari`s administration more support to bring sustainable development to the region.
Ekere made this known in Abuja on Tuesday in a statement by Mr Chijoke Amu-Nnadi.
Ekere said this after the inauguration of the Akwa Ibom Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uyo.
He said it was obvious that Buhari had good intentions for the people of the region judging by the steps he had taken so far to address the challenges facing the region.
The NDDC boss, therefore, called on the people of the region to support President Buhari`s Administration which, he said, was working tirelessly to address the economic problems of the country.
While commending the hard work and resilience of the APC party leadership and faithful, he called for a greater synergy between them in enhancing grassroots mobilisation.
Ekere described the party’s caucus Chairman, Atuekong Don Etiebet, as an experienced, dogged and cerebral leader.
The statement also quoted, the Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Mr Umana Umana as expressing confidence in the caucus which would strengthen and reposition the party in the south-south region.
Umana expressed determination of the party faithful to work together to strengthen the party to win future elections.
He commended Buhari for the appointment of Akwa Ibom indigenes, including himself, into positions of authority.
The statement also quoted, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Senate, Sen. Ita Enang, as canvassing massive support for the APC-led Federal Government.
Enang said that Buhari had done well for the people of Akwa Ibom in terms of appointments and projects, assuring that more appointments were underway.
He debunked insinuations that the Buhari’s administration only budgeted N1.9 billion for projects in the state, saying that the budgetary provision for the Calabar-Itu Road alone was over N6 billion.
The statement also quoted the Caucus Chairman, Etiebet, as thanking the party for the great honour accorded him and other caucus members and promised to work towards making the APC more virile.
He, therefore, predicted victory for the APC in 2019.
