Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Mahmood Yakubu is meeting with chairmen of political parties ahead of the the three off-circle governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo State. https://sundiatapost.com/inec-chairman-didnt-promise-to-transmit-2023-election-results-electronically-lai-mohammed/

The meeting is part of the stakeholders’ engagement scheduled told hold at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The INEC chairman is expected to brief the political parties about preparations, and the roles of political parties in the elections. And also an avenue for the parties to speak to the INEC chairman about their concerns and observations ahead of the exercise.

INEC, had revealed that 5,409,438 million registered voters will participate in the off-cycle governorship elections that will be held in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on November 11, 2023.

The Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this in a meeting with stakeholders in election management in Abuja. https://sundiatapost.com/inec-chairman-briefs-fec-says-election-will-hold-as-scheduled/

According to him, the elections will be held at 10,510 polling units spread across 649 electoral wards in 56 local government areas of the three states.

Giving the breakdown activities, Yakubu said: “In the next three weeks, off-cycle governorship elections will be held in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States.

“The three elections will involve 5,409,438 registered voters that will vote in 10,510 polling units spread across 649 electoral Wards in 56 Local Government Areas.

“So far, all non-sensitive materials for the election have been delivered to the three States. Other preparatory activities, including training, are on course.

“Valuable lessons have been learnt from the 2023 General Election for improved performance in the forthcoming elections.”
