Maiduguri – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Wednesday distributed free delivery kits to 410 pregnant women in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Borno.
NEMA Director-General, Alhaji Sani Sidi presented the items to the women at a ceremony in Maiduguri.

“Boko Haram insurgency has become the most challenging humanitarian crisis in the history of Nigeria.
“The insurgency had resulted in mass destruction of lives, public and private structures with the resultant negative consequences,” he said.
Sidi expressed sadness that the state had remained the highest victim of insurgency in the country.
He said that the state had 23 IDPs camps providing shelter to thousands of displaced persons comprising of women and children, who are most vulnerable.
“We are here to support the vulnerable as part of our duty to provide care for the less privilege,” Sidi said.
He said about 1980 displaced persons at the IDPs camps were pregnant women.
Sidi said that 410 out of the 1980 pregnant women at the IDPs camps were selected as the beneficiaries of the gesture.
