Barely a week after the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase effected a beat re-shuffle in the rank and file of Nigeria Police Force, which prompted redeployment of some Police commissioners in the country, Abdulmajid Ali, the newly-redeployed Police commissioner to Ogun State has resumed at the Eleweran Headquarters of Ogun State Police Command.
The new commissioner of Police, who began official duty in Abeokuta with an inspection of the Police Guard of Honour mounted at Eleweran in Abeokuta on Thursday officially received hand-over documents from the outgoing Commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu, warning hoodlums, including kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists to steer clear of the state.
The new commissioner of Police, while speaking with senior officers, who recieved him with jubilation and satisfaction, advised the officers to step up their games and charged officers to always continue to obey the rule of law in their activities, adding that policing has gone scientific and the officers must step up to that.
On the issue of bail, the commissioner explained that officers must stick to ethics and rule of the Police as his administration would frown at act of corruption, saying: “You know I am not new to this terrain, I have received the hand over note and I have been briefed about the issue of crime in the state.
“We have to step up our game, all officers must obey the rule of the law while the issue of bail must be handled with ethics because this administration will not condone corruption. We must be professional, Police must change to be humble. Policing has gone scientific and that is why we must all focus on intelligent policing.
“And to the people of the state, a new Commissioner has taken over and I will ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed. And for the miscreants, you’re advised to relocate from Ogun State or you will be dealt with decisively. Cultism in Ijebu-Ode would also be dealt with seriously.”
Meawhile, Sundiata Post reports that Abdulmajid Ali was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration in Ogun State until he was promoted as commissioner and moved to the Force headquarters in Abuja were he oversaw the anti-bomb section.
He was later moved to to Imo state as Police commissioner of Imo state command from where he was deployed to Ogun state command as Police commissioner.
