Lagos – The Youth Community Initiative Nigeria (YCIN), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on Sunday said it was set to train about five million youths in skills and entrepreneurial acquisition.
Ms Grace Chikezie, the YCIN President, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that all plans had been put in place to engage the youth.
“The skill acquisition would be done within five years,’’ she said.
Chikezie said the YCIN was an online community set for youths between the ages of 18 and 40 years.
According to her, it is a place where youths converge to relate, communicate, learn, socialise and express issues that affect them and how the problems could be solved.
“The youth community centre is a centralised place of meeting for every youth.
“It is an organisation where employment opportunities are explored and empowerment projects take place.
“Youths are taught to discover their potential and explore their area of talent and creativity,’’ she said.
Chikezie said that the organisation was concerned about creating employment opportunities, change the negative lifestyles of youths, promote good morals and hard work.
She said the still acquisition programme would be an opportunity for the youth to showcase and develop their talent and creativity.
“It would also be an opportunity to foster peace, harmony and nurture the minds of the young leaders of tomorrow.
“We want to create an opportunity for heroes to be discovered, create change, actualise dreams and create employment opportunities nationwide.
“We are also ready to support small businesses and support those who have interest in music, catering, tailoring, painting, ceramics, ‘’ Chikezie said.
According to her, the YCIN project is a simple master plan to provide employment opportunities, basic amenities, social and cultural lifestyle, setting a standard for morals and promoting peaceful living.
She said the maiden training programme would start on Dec. 12 in Lagos.
