LAGOS – Kehinde Laniyan, the Secretary, Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA), on Friday said that preparations were on to ensure a hitch free election into the executive board in November.
Laniyan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that an electoral committee had been setup by the NBSA to work out a smooth electoral process.
He said that only candidates that meet the conditions would be eligible to contest for the available posts.
“We are already putting things in place for the election that will come up in November and a committee is already in place to ensure a successful election.
“Only qualified candidates will contest for the various post in the association,” he said.
The scribe said that the date for the election would be communicated to all members in due courses. [eap_ad_2] Laniyan said that nine positions that were available for grab including the post of the president, first and second Vice Presidents of Baseball and Softball, thrid vice president and the secretary.
the others were assistant secretary, treasurer, publicity secretary and assistant publicity secretary.
On preparations for the Major League Baseball tryout (MLB), Laniyan said that the programme, which was earlier scheduled for Sept. 6, would now hold from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28 in Lagos.
He said that the body had already informed all state associations on the latest development, adding that it would also give the players more time to prepare for the tryout.
The MLB tryout is an annual programme organised by the international baseball body to select young talents from various African countries and give them opportunity to ply their trade in foreign leagues. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
