Abuja – Mr Obinali Egele, the Managing Director of Diasfunds Africa Ltd. (DAL), a tourism promotion company says the proposed African Cultural Heritage Digital Museum can earn Nigeria over three million dollars annually.
Egele made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
NAN reports that National Council for Museum and Monuments recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DAL to establish an African Cultural Heritage Digital Museum to generate revenue.
“By the time the digital museum becomes operational, users of the images in the museum shall pay per click; this will earn the country over three million dollars a year.
“This is a direct financial benefit from the platform but remember also that people from other part of the world will want to visit the actual museum locations.
“Those benefits do not quantify the gains because as people visit the actual museum asides the digital platform, the country can overshot the three million dollars revenue target we envisage,’’ he stressed.
Egele said that the organisation was encouraging competition in terms of the sites and conservation of artefacts, adding that the aim was to project Nigeria’s image.
“It is an opportunity to positively project Nigeria globally rather than the negative headlines we have most of the time,’’ he said.

According to him, clients from the comfort of their homes and offices can access image and use them for academic and recreational purpose.
He said the museum, when established would host high resolution photographs of 1000 oldest man-made artefacts to be provided by NCMM.
The museum is expected to be inaugurated on May 18 during the the International Museum Day celebration, according to Usman. (NAN)
