In the wake of accusations by the British Civil Aviation Authority against Air Peace, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, took to Twitter on Wednesday, May 22, to address the concerns. He reassured that the safety issues flagged by the UK authority had been promptly resolved.
Keyamo emphasized that Air Peace, as a Nigerian carrier, enjoys full support from the government. He stated, “Air Peace Airlines is the Nigerian flag carrier designated on the London route and as such enjoys the full backing and support of the Nigerian Government in its operation of that route.”
Furthermore, Keyamo highlighted the Federal Government’s confidence in the safety of all Nigerian flag carriers operating international routes, including Air Peace. He pledged ongoing support for these airlines in achieving operational excellence.
Regarding recent controversies surrounding Air Peace, particularly its provision of free flight tickets to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their visit to Nigeria to promote the Invictus Games, Keyamo addressed the allegations. He clarified that Air Peace’s owner, Allen Onyema, had been cleared of any wrongdoing by a US court and urged the public to consider the facts accurately.
