Port Harcourt – The President of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, on Tuesday urged youths in South Africa to promote peace with their counterparts on the continent.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone from Johannesburg, South Africa, that the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa were unfortunate, adding that youths must be in the vanguard of tackling such challenges.
Anyene, who noted that “ Nigeria Cares,’’ an arm of the union, had visited a less privileged community in Governors House, Hillbrow, Johannesburg, to mark the Mandela Month, said the group was committed to promoting peace and unity.
He said that though Africans originated from different countries with demarcated borders, they were the same people with rich culture.
“ Nigeria Cares is the vehicle we use to do some charity works.
“ We visited the less privileged community to clean their homes, cook for them and give them a sense of belonging as part of activities to mark the Mandela Month.
“ We should be our brothers keepers. It is left for us as Africans to unite as one people, love one another and project the continent as a powerful bloc.

“ Africans can help each other through various regional blocs or groups.
“ We all have the potentials to be good ambassadors of our countries and the continent,“ he said. (NAN)
