Zuru (Kebbi) -The Postmaster-General of the Federation, Alhaji Mori Baba, on Wednesday, said 80 per cent of post offices nationwide had been rehabilitated for quick service delivery.
Baba stated this in Zuru, Kebbi, when he declared open the 7th NIPOST Biennial Games and Cultural Festival.
He said 70 per cent of the post offices had also been computerised, while a comprehensive staff conditions of service would be implemented.
The postmaster-general said NIPOST had contributed to the introduction of the West African Postal Conference (WAPCO), stressing that Africa Union (AU) and ECOWAS would emulate the concept.
“The desire of NIPOST is to transform the post offices to a one-stop shop,’’ he said.
Baba, who would retire from the civil service this month, urged NIPOST staff to sustain hard work and dedication to make the postal service viable.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Dr Olatunji Olaopa, represented by the Director, Human Resources in the ministry, Alhaji Jibril Wudil, urged participants at the festival to demonstrate friendship and unity.

He said the Federal Government would promote the welfare of NIPOST staff who exhibited selfless service and dedication to duty. (NAN)
