Lagos – The Courier Regulatory Department (CRD) of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) has called on the general public to assist the department in getting rid of illegal courier operators.
The Head of CRD, Dr. Simon Emeje, made the call in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
Emeje said that Nigerians should be wary of the operators that they patronise, to ensure they were not illegal.
He said that aside seeking legislative backup, CRD believed that members of the public were critical stakeholders in sanitising the industry, which is currently truncated by unlicensed operators.
According to him, the illegal operators are economic saboteurs who deserve no customer patronage.

He said that CRD Enforcement Team had clamped down on ”Up I Swear God” courier services for operating illegally.
Emeje also said that CRD had also revoked the operating licences of eight operators, which had brought down the number of courier operators in the country to 267 as at November.
He said that if the affected courier companies continued to operate, the department would proceed to prosecute them. (NAN)
