Dutse – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa has arrested a suspected drug peddler in Gumel Local Government Area of the state.
NSCDC’s spokesman in the state, Mr Adamu Abdullahi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Friday that the suspect was arrested in Dantoma quarters on July 4, at about 4:20 p.m.
Abdullahi said that the suspect was arrested with 405 tablets of Valium 5, 214 tablets of Tramadol, 175 tablets of Exol and 20 tablets of Diazapam.
He said that the suspect was arrested after the corps received a complaint about his activities in the area.
“The arrest was made due to complaints by residents of the area.
“The locals complained that the suspect had turned the area into a drug dealing zone mostly patronised by youth living in there.
“So, our men arrested him while selling psychotropic substances and other controlled drugs.
“After the arrest, 841 tablets of various psychotropic substances and other controlled drugs were recovered from the suspect,” the spokesman said.
He said that both the suspect and the exhibits had been handed over to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state for further action. (NAN)
