Abuja – The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) said on Friday it would launch the “Tour Nigeria, Buy Nigeria, Grow Nigeria” campaign, to promote local patronage.
The Assistant Director, Press Unit of the corporation, Mrs Adamma Afanga made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Afanga said the campaign was aimed at encouraging patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products, which she said would propel tourism development in the country.
She said tourism would project the image of Nigeria positively, as such the corporation was working with relevant stakeholders to promote domestic tourism in the country.
“We need to focus on consumption of our assets, promotion and development of domestic tourism, which will create multiple effects on job creation and poverty alleviation,” she added.
Afanga further said that it was imperative to package Nigeria properly to attract local and foreign tourists.
According to her, music, entertainment, fashion, cuisines and religion will boost the Nigerian tourism industry.
She said that the corporation was working closely with the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria and other stakeholders to boost Nigeria’s tourism potentials.
