ABUJA – A nutritionist, Mr Chikat Lekshak, on Thursday in Abuja called on Nigerians to cultivate the
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]habit of taking food supplements regularly to enhance healthy living.
Lekshak gave the advice during a health talk that he delivered for members of staff of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The programme was organised to enlighten the agency’s staff on the benefits of a healthy life style .[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The nutritionist also advised the people to undergo regular medical check-up, eat right and take anti-oxidants foods found in organic fruits such as strawberries and oranges.
He said that people should take food supplements in addition to the food they eat.
He said it was important to do so because people hardly got all the nutrients required for the body.
“It is good to enforce the intake of food supplements as a daily life style to boost your immune system and to fight free radicals which are harmful to the body.
“Most supplements are anti-aging; repair damaged cells by free radicals, balance ph level in the body and promote longevity.
“When you balance the alkaline in your body it enhances the brain function of an adult, children, protect the heart and also clears the arteries,” he said.
Lekshak further said the intake of food supplements rich in vitamin C helped to fight eye-related diseases and also enhanced clear vision.
He advised people to reduce their intake of palm oil, cautioning that taking it in excess built up bad cholesterol in the body.
“It is advisable that you take vegetables and fish oil supplements which enhance and promote blood circulation in the body and also reduce bad cholesterol.
“It is advisable to drink lots of water and eat fruits to help boost your health vitality and also to reduce acidity in the body which causes a lot of sickness in human body.
NAN staff who attended the lecture said they had learnt a lot from the health talk, particularly on the necessity of eating healthy and its benefits.
They commended the agency’s management and organisers of the program for their concern about the health and well being of the staff. (NAN)
