Owerri – The Director-General of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. Sule Kazaure, has commended the Imo Government for the newly built permanent orientation camp for corps members posted to the state.
Kazaure gave the commendation during his familiarisation visit to the orientation camp at Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government of Imo on Tuesday.
He described the orientation camp as one of the best in the country, saying that the facilities put in place and the sight fitted well to the regimented lifestyle expected in any orientation camp.
The NYSC boss he was in the state to inspect the facilities in the camp as one of his oversight functions.
He charged the corps members to be good ambassadors of their various schools and families, exhibit good conduct and ensure that they were well integrated.
Kazaure also urged them to be committed, dedicated and excel in their different endeavours when posted out to serve in the various communities of the state.
“I want you to avoid unnecessary travel, night parties and abide by the dos and don’ts of your host community. Be committed to your duties and add value to your host communities.”
He said the NYSC management had instituted a national award for outstanding students and advised them to work hard in order to win the award.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Isaac Fasanu, thanked the director-general for the visit.
He said the state registered 1,725 Batch ‘A’ corps members comprising 868 males and 857 females, who had exhibited great commitment during the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development (SAED), First Aid and HIV/AIDs advocacy programmes.
He expressed gratitude to the state government for what he described as the state-of-the-art orientation camp, a well structured corps and staff hostel, a multi-purpose hall, a standby generating set, a transformer and a borehole, among other facilities.
He also thanked the traditional ruler of Eziama Obaire, Eze Julius Osuchukwu and other illustrious sons of the area for their warm hospitality and support. (NAN)
