Sokoto – The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, says NYSC is strategizing on inter-agency data collections using modern Information Communication Technology (ICT) platform to overcome posting challenges.
Kazaure disclosed this in Sokoto at the 2018 Batch ‘A’ three day pre-mobilisation workshop tagged: ” Enhancing Data Integrity in NYSC mobilisation Process” on Thursday in Sokoto.
Kazaure said the effort was geared towards enhancing posting, mobilisation and other processes between corps members and their producing institutions.
He said the workshop was part of effort to strengthen inter-agency collaboration towards achieving successful mobilisation.
Kazaure said the forum will facilitate exchange of ideas among stakeholders and promote harmonious working relationships that would ensure efficiency.
The D-G thanked the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), West African Examination Council (WAEC) and other corps producing institutions on their support to NYSC.
Speaking earlier, Sokoto State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Garba Tsitse, urged the NYSC management to always upgrade its systems and tackle emerging challenges on Cyber crimes.
Tsitse called on NYSC to also sustain rural health outreach and empowerment schemes initiatives due to their importance to Nigerians.
He stressed that millions of Nigerians have been accessing free treatments through health outreach by professional corps members and assured NYSC of continued support for all its activities.
He described NYSC scheme as beneficial to Nigerians on promoting cultural understanding, national unity, integration and social economic development.
”NYSC serves as veritable tools on executing elections, HIV/AIDS campaign, SDGs, Polio and national census” Tsitse said.
According to him, the introduced skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme had greatly impacted on lives of Corps members’ self-reliance.
He commended NYSC management on the workshop topic as it reflects present day challenges and would harmonized producing institution data with that of NYSC.
The Director Corps Mobilization Department, NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba, said the workshop was tradition of NYSC, that precedes mobilisation processes and guarantee effectiveness.
Sokoto State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Musa Abubakar, said participants were drawn from all the 36 states of the federation and FCT, noting that corps members serving in Sokoto collect the highest stipends amongst other states.
Abubakar said NYSC enjoyed maximum support from the Sokoto state government and also enjoyed cordial relationship with sister organisations and non-governmental institutions in all its activities.
