IBADAN – The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association says the theme of its 10th annual public lecture will centre on good governance.
A statement issued by the association on Sunday in Ibadan said the lecture would be the contribution of the association to the ongoing national discourse on good governance.
It said the lecture, entitled: “Islam and Good Governance–Nigeria’s Legislative Agenda’’, would hold on May 10 at the Oduduwa Hall of the university.
Signed by its National President, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, the statement said the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, would deliver the lecture.
It said Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun and Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, would be the special guest of honour and chairman of the lecture respectively.
It said further that the lecture would be a part of the three-day national re-union of the association between May 9 and May 11.
The statement stressed that the re-union would feature the awards of scholarships to 50 students of the Obafemi Awolowo University in addition to the previous 204 students who had been awarded similar scholarships.
It noted that N13.7 million would be spent on the scholarship awards by the association to the 254 students.
“The re-union will feature empowerment programme for the graduating students, family retreat, novelty match and facility tour of the central mosque of the university under construction, among others,’’ it said.
According to the statement, more than 200 delegates are expected to attend the re-union from all the chapters of the association. (NAN)
