Lagos- The Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Tony Okoroji, has congratulated Mr. Kojo Antwi, the newly-elected Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).

Okoroji gave the felicitation in a congratulatory message sent to Antwi, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He stated that he witnessed the election of Kojo Antwi and other members of the new management board of GHAMRO in Accra on Feb. 11,

GHAMRO is Ghana’s only government-approved copyright collective management organisation for music.

Like COSON in Nigeria, GHAMRO is responsible for the collection and distribution of royalties for the public and commercial use of music in Ghana.

“I have made many trips to Ghana during the period that GHAMRO had challenges. Many people thought GHAMRO will not survive its challenges.

“I am happy to have been given a chance in resolving the dispute in GHAMRO. I am truly very happy to witness the rebirth of GHAMRO.

“The stage is now set for COSON and GHAMRO to work together for the benefit of creativity in our sub-region,’’ he said.

Chief Okoroji, who is back in Nigeria after the elections, was in Accra as a representative of the international copyright community. (NAN)
