ABUJA (Sundiata Post) I have followed the recent diplomatic impasse between the United Kingdom and Russia with great interest.
The Col. Sergei Skriptal affair has damaged diplomatic relations between the two countries. To underline the seriousness of the conflict, Evgenny Primakov Jr, a trusted spokesman of President Putin declared the situation “worse than cold war era.”
Russia has asked the United Kingdom to provide evidence of Moscow’s complicity in the entire saga without any concrete information coming from London. As expected, the western countries have descended on Russia despite the lack of evidence.
The football World Cup will kick off in three months time in Russia and this is a “perfect” opportunity for the west to undermine Russia. The World Cup is projected to showcase the other side of Russia ‘opaqued’ by the western media. This will in turn create an increased economic cooperation with the rest of the world.
This agenda was deployed to ruin the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the hyped Zika virus epidemic in Brazil. It’s all about economic advantage. The 2018 World Cup is a target.
I have followed international politics and diplomacy for years and what is playing out is potentially a repetition of the “old game” in disguise.
The only way for the United Kingdom and its western allies can convince the world is to provide evidence. Propaganda by BBC, CNN AND SKY NEWS will not suffice in this instance.
