Akure – Mr John-Kennedy Opara, the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, has described Ondo State as a pacesetter in the country in terms of development strides recorded.
Opara made the commendation in Akure on Friday when he led a delegation of the commission’s officials on a courtesy visit to Gov. Olusegun Mimiko.
He said that the Mimiko-led administration had recorded unprecedented achievements in all sectors of the state’s economy including health, education, agriculture and environment, among others.
He observed that the election of Mimiko as the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, was as a result of his sterling leadership qualities.
On the pilgrimage activities, Opara said it was designed to promote moral and spiritual upliftment.
He said that the purpose of the visit was primarily to sensitise Christians in the state on the on 2015 pilgrimage programme.
Responding, Mimiko thanked the executive secretary for the visit and commended his efforts at re-awakening the commission’s activities, to ensure a more efficient service delivery.

The governor urged religious leaders in Nigeria to always pray for the country to overcome its challenges.
Mimiko noted that there has been continued cooperation and partnership between Muslim and Christian communities in the state and urged them to sustain the relationship with a view to moving the state forward. (NAN)
