Abuja -The outgoing National President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA),
Mrs Mary Badeh, on Wednesday solicited for special prayers for the Armed Forces to help them combat insurgency.
Mrs Badeh made the appeal during the official handover ceremony to her successor in Abuja.
According to Badeh, it is only through prayers that the women could sufficiently support the men fighting the battle against insurgency.
“We are still fighting the insurgency and struggling with it.
“So I’ll advice her to organise prayers because we need prayers in our country right now and that’s the only way the women can contribute their quota.
“After all, we cannot go out to fight, we can only support them with prayers,’’ she said.
She commended members of the association for their support during her tenure and advised that the same hand of fellowship be extended to the new leadership.
The new President, Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin, in an address assured members that she would consolidate on the work done by her predecessor.
“I want to assure you that we will definitely maintain and build upon your achievements and those of previous administrations.
“As stakeholders in DEPOWA, I urge us all to be partners in progress so that we can work as members of a united family.’’
Olonisakin pledged to live up to expectation, contribute to the barracks community positively and assist their husbands carry out their assigned tasks. (NAN)
