Parker blow for Chiefs

Bernard Parker’s comeback for Kaizer Chiefs is not expected for at least another 10 weeks as the league’s leading goal scorer continues to hobble about in a moon boot after ankle surgery.
The club’s football manager, Bobby Motaung said on Tuesday Parker had accompanied the squad to Port Elizabeth for their pre-season training where he continued to work on his rehabilitation.
“But he will only be back later in the season. The doctors said September, October. Obviously we hope the sooner the better,” Motaung added.[eap_ad_2]
Parker finished last season with 10 league goals and won the Golden Boot award for the league’s top scorer despite struggling over the last six months with his ankle, playing through the pain for the cause of his club.
The 28-year-old forward had surgery at the end of the season to clean out fragments from the ankle.
He must wear the hard protective covering over his ankle until the end of next month and will then need a further weeks of conditioning and strengthening before returning to action for the club.
“I take each day as it comes and will see how I progress in my recovery. It is my first time to be side-lined for a long period, but that’s how football goes sometimes,” Parker said earlier this month in an interview on the Chiefs website. (supersport.com)[eap_ad_3]
