arrived the council for the campaign rally of the governorship candidate of the APC, Dr. Dakuku [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]Peterside.
A crowd numbering over 20,000 met the team at Omalem Junction where the campaign took off.
The carnival-like procession then moved to the palace of King Kaleh Obugeh where Peterside again [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]reiterated why the pursuit of peace in all communities is critical to his administration.
“If we don’t deal with the fundamental issues that will lead to peace, then we will just be wasting our [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]time. We all agree that these issues are justice, equity and fairness. Therefore we shall be seeking your support and partnership as we pursue peace in all parts of Rivers State.
“More so, we will make our water ways more secure, develop our infrastructure and improve the general economic wellbeing of the people of Abua/Odual. For instance, Ogbema Waterside road will receive very special attention from us and we will also pay serious attention to the road leading to Odual.’
Peterside also promised to fix the jetties leading in and out of Abua/Odual so as to accelerate the process of empowering Rivers people.
“Adua/Odual is known for its high agricultural potentials. Why is it that its high agricultural potential has not been fully maximised? We will take steps to unlock these potentials and one of the things we are going to do to achieve this is to site a model Songhai farm, the type we have in Tai in Orashi region. This will help farmers to bring
their goods for storage in the facility that we shall provide. They will also have the opportunity of enjoying extension services from the Songhai centre as well as a ready market in the Songhai farm. And funding support will be provided for our farmers to aid their expansion and growth.
The APC candidate rounded off his speech by calling on the people to remember that those noted for violence can never bring peace if they come to power. He therefore urged them to be circumspect as they make their decisions at the polls.
