Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Plateau State Tourism Corporation has unveiled a programme tagged “Jos Family Christmas Festival” with the aim to attract visitors into the State during the yuletide season.
Speaking at the unveiling in Jos on Monday, the Plateau State General Manager, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok said the festival will expose the numerous potentials abound in the State.
Chuwang said during the festival visitors will have varieties of local products and services to take advantage of.
According to him: “This festival will drive tourist traffic to Plateau, allowing visitors to experience our unique landscape, rich culture, and hospitality.
“Instead of brief stops, we’re creating immersive experiences where visitors can connect with our people, culture, and environment.
“The goal is to establish Jos as a holiday hotspot, bringing economic growth and supporting local businesses”, he said.
Also speaking, a renowned entertainer and rapper, M.I Abaga, who is also an Adviser on Entertainment to the Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, describing it as a key step in promoting Plateau’s artistic and cultural significance.
“This is an opportunity for global recognition of our arts, culture, and people,” he said.
M.I emphasized that the partnerships could lead to significant growth and development within the community.
On his part, Musa Ashoms, Plateau’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, encouraged Nigerians to consider Plateau as their holiday destination.
“Our climate is perfect, our people are welcoming, and our landscape is breathtaking.
“This year, the Christmas season will feature bike rides, hiking, cultural displays, and traditional Christmas carols, among other activities.
“The State is fully prepared with enhanced security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all”, he said.
