The speculations about death of President Muhammadu Buhari have been described as a “pointer to the desperation that has overcome the opposition leaders in Nigeria.”A consultative meeting Katsina State All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and stakeholders with the North West zonal leadership of the party at Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina, rose on Sunday with the resolution.
The APC chieftains in a 15-point-communique signed by Inuwa Abdulkadir, National Vice-Chairman (North West), expressed “disuse at the callous, sadistic and inhumane politisation of the routine annual vacation of our dear President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buahri, by unscrupulous and unpatriotic opposition leaders.”
They enjoined members of the National Assembly from the North West zone to fully support the President in his effort to provide responsive leadership to Nigeria.
The party leaders and stakeholders emphasized the need for elected and appointed public office holders to undertake periodic consultations with the constituents to enlighten them on government policies and programmes at the same time receive feedbacks from same for effective service delivery.
The APC faithful believed that a strong and cohesive party would meet the aspirations of Nigerians and provide additional avenue for the party members to air their suggestions or grievances to ensure smooth running of its affairs.
They affirmed their support to the seven state governors in the zone towards economic integration of the region within the context of the North West Economic Cooperation and Integration framework.
“The meeting appreciated the efforts of the seven state governors in the North West region in addressing the security challenges especially in the areas of cattle rustling, armed banditry and kidnapping. This effort has resulted in the region being one of the most peaceful regions in the country,” the communiqué stated.
