Police arraign 4 robbery suspects in Abuja Area Court

Abuja –  The police on Wednesday arraigned four suspected armed robbers at an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Anigbo Paul, told the court that the accused were arraigned on a one-count charge of belonging to gang of thieves.

They were Shamsu Deen (23), Emmanuel Akut (35), Musa Shaibu (25), and Adeniyi Adebiyi, 30.

Paul told the court that police surveillance team arrested the accused in a forest at Kapwa village while drinking and smoking dangerous substance.

He said the police team swooped on them as they contemplated committing a crime.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused could not give a convincing and satisfactory reason to the police team of their gathering in the forest.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

He said the offence contravened Section 306 of the Penal Code.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Judge, Mr Gambo Garba, granted each of them bail in the sum of N30,000 each with a reasonable surety in like sum.

He adjourned the matter till Sept. 30, for hearing. (NAN)
