Enugu – A labourer, Audu Umar, on Tuesday appeared before an Enugu South Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing heavy duty spare parts belonging to one Jack Nwatu.
The police prosecutor, Mr Clement Orji, told the court that the accused was arrested in August 2014 along with others while trying to offload the stolen items.
Umar, who pleaded not guilty, testified that he had been a laborer and that on the said date, a man offered him a job at the Artisan Market and they settled for N1,400.
Umar explained that when he got closer to the man’s vehicle, he saw two other labourers and the man drove them to a spot on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway where they loaded his car with some heavy metals.
