Ado-Ekiti – Eighteen-year-old Tope Ojo on Tuesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of three cell phones valued at N20,000.
Ojo, whose address was not given, is facing a count charge.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 14 on Atikankan Street in Ado-Ekiti.
Ikebuilo said that the accused stole the phones from Mr Yahyah Saadi’s shop.
She submitted that the teenager stole a Nokia phone worth N8,000 and two Itel phones worth N12,000.
The prosecutor said the accused was apprehended by Saadi and his friends.
Ikebuilo noted that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Simeon Ojo, urged the court to grant him bail in liberal terms, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Omolola Akosile, granted the teenager bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for substantive hearing.
