Police confirm 14 dead in renewed Ibi crisis (news)

JALINGO – The Police in Jalingo, Taraba State have confirmed the death of 14 persons, including two soldiers, in a renewed violence at Ibi, headquarters of Ibi Local Government Area, on Thursday morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the stare, Mr Joseph Kwaji, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Friday that no fewer than 14 houses were razed down.

The spokesman said 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. [eap_ad_1] He disclosed that two AK 47 rifles and several other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.

He, however, said that normalcy had returned to area after a detachment of Mobile Policemen and military were deployed to maintain the peace.

Kwaji said investigation into the cause of the crisis had begun.
