Polls: 3,000 APC members defect to PDP in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT (Sundiata Post) – Three thousand APC supporters from Abua/ Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday defected to the PDP, stressing that they would vote President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Nyesom Wike in the forthcoming general elections.

The decampees declared that they would start their comprehensive work for the PDP on Saturday, March 28 when they would ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan gets 98 percent of votes in the presidential election in Rivers State.‎

They spoke when they were received in audience by the Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Wike during a defection ceremony in Port Harcourt.

Leader of the defectors,  Mathew Ewede Isaac, said that the APC members drawn from different wards of the LGA have realised that the APC is built on deception and falsehood.

He said that all Abua/ Odual people have resolved to work for the reelection of President Jonathan and the victory of the PDP.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]

Responding, Wike commended the decampees for putting the interest of Rivers State ahead of the selfish interest of outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi.

He assured the Abua / Odual people that President Jonathan will be reelected to conclude the transformation agenda he has started.

Wike said that Jonathan is the first leader to remember the area through the appointment of Dr Henry Ogiri as the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the NDDC,  which has translated into development in the LGA.

In his remarks,  Leader of the PDP in Abua / Odual LGA,  Dr Henry Ogiri said that the APC has collapsed in the area. He assured the people of more developmental projects.
