AKURE – The Pre-Mimiko U-20 Soccer Tournament (MISTON) on Thursday began across the six zones of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA).
The zones are Akure, Ondo, Owo, Ikare-Akoko, Ore and Okitipupa.
The Caring Heart Sports Foundation (CHSF) is organising MISTON in collaboration with ODSFA.
In Akure zone, Akure North FC defeated Oyemekun FC 2-1, while Aye Mafuge FC beat Coastal Boys FC 5-2 in Okitipupa. [eap_ad_1] Ojefon Ile Oluji walloped Omarpec FC Odigbo 4-0 in Ore, while Ekimogun Warriors defeated Ekimogun Stars 6-5 on penalty shootout after playing 1-1 at regulation time, in Ondo zone.
In Ikare-Akoko zone, Okarufe Stars defeated Agbe Boys 3-1, while Omima FC defeated Ogho Made 7-6 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw at regulation time.
An official of the FA, Michael Fabonmi, who monitored the match in Ikare-Akoko, expressed satisfaction with the performances of teams in the Akoko zone.
Fabonmi made the observation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure.
Fabonmi hailed the high level of discipline and skills displayed by players in the zone.
“From what I have seen and heard from the centres, I am happy,” the official said.
NAN reports that the matches were on knockout basis, as the pre-tournament soccer rivalry continues on Sept. 20. (NAN)
