Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Nigerian women as they joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day.
Notice of the felicitation is contained in a statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President in Abuja on Tuesday.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the promotion of women’s rights and the wellbeing of women in all geopolitical zones of the country.
Buhari said that the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day — “Pledge for Parity,’’ was consistent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) promise to remove all impediments to the realisation of equality by Nigerian women.

As the global community set aside March 8 to encourage and celebrate women’s social, cultural, economic and political achievements, the President assured Nigerian women that his administration would continue to do all within its powers to fulfill the pledge.
The President then accordingly directed the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to move quickly to identify critical issues militating against the wellbeing and progress of Nigerian women, with a view to rapidly devising adequate programmes and strategies to address them.
He wished Nigerian women a happy International Women’s Day. (NAN)
