LAGOS – The price of a 100-kilogramme-bag of beans has continued to rise at the Mile 12 market in [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]Lagos, according to a survey by Novus Agro Nigeria Ltd.
This is contained in the firm’s commodity index for the week ended Jan. 15, and made available to the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.
The firm monitors the prices of commodities in 50 major markets in 25 states of the federation.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The index showed that a 100-kilogramme bag of beans now sells N400 above last week’s price of
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]
N16,500.
The paint bucket measurement of the commodity also increased from N730 sold last week to N760 in the week under review.
However, other commodities like garri, maize, rice, onions, groundnut and others recorded slight reduction in prices.
The price of a 100-kg bag of garri came down by N167 to sell for N5,833 from the N6,000 it was sold the previous week, while the paint bucket measurement of the commodity remained at N300.
In the week under review, a 100-kg bag of groundnut and maize sold at N21,667 and N5,833 as against N22,000 and N5,833, recording a reduction of N333 and N250, respectively.
Others like 50-kg bag of imported rice, 100-kg bag of onions and 25-litre gallon of palm oil also recorded price slash.
The rice sold for N8,000 as against N8,250 previously, while a bag of onions and gallon of palm oil sold for N22,833 and N6,767 from N23,667 and N6,917, respectively.
The index also showed that 100-kg bag of sorghum and soya beans remained the same at N7,000 and N13,500. (NAN)
