Osogbo – The Osun House of Assembly has urged Muslims to use the month of Ramadan to pray for the repositioning of the nation’s economy.
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the House Committee Chairman on Information and Strategy.
It said that the present state of the nation economy has subjected Nigerians to unnecessary hardship.
According to the statement, though President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is striving hard to reposition the economy, there is need for prayers to ensure its success.
The statement said that the issue of the economic downturn was a task that must be jointly fought.
It urged leaders at all levels and followers to abstain from any act of exploitation which was forbidden during the month of Ramadan.
The statement noted that part of the problem that has contributed to the economic woes the nation was currently facing were exploitation and corruption.
It said the Ramadan period should serve as preventive measure for all, irrespective of religious background.
The statements said the month of Ramadan was a period of spiritual re-awakening which must be used by Muslims to seek forgiveness.
It said that the Ramadan teaching of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, honesty and dedication should be embraced. (NAN)
